First Malaysian law firm to set up office in China

(OCT 27) NANNING: The first Malaysian legal firm in China will be set up when CW Loh & Associates opens its representative office here.
CW Loh & Associates founder and managing partner C.W. Loh said the representative office will likely be opened next year.

"It will also be the first foreign firm in Nanning. We have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Guangxi Tongwang Law Firm for cooperation in legal matters," he told the Malaysian media after the signing of MoU on the last day of the 8th China-Asean Expo yesterday.

The signatories of the MoU were Loh and Guangxi Tongwang managing partner Huang Qiang Guang. This will be the first time, CW Loh established 10 years ago, set up an office outside Malaysia. Under the MOU both firms will provide legal and advisory services to companies from China and Malaysia.

Loh says the implementation of China-Asean Free Trade Agreement (Cafta) will generate demand for legal and advisory services as trade and investment increase under Cafta. Guangxi Tong Wang is the largest law firm in Guangxi Autonomous Region.
